The Toaster Pro
BALMUDA's next-generation steam toaster oven, and the most advanced model in the line. You pour 5cc of water into a cup at the top before toasting; the resulting layer of steam locks moisture inside the bread while the surface crisps, giving the crackly-crust-and-fluffy-interior result the original The Toaster became known for. The Pro refines the original's toast modes and adds a professional Salamander Grill Mode developed with input from chefs.
Six modes
- Shokupan — holds the whole slice at a constant temperature, browning the surface only in the final minute. For standard sliced bread. (Replaces the original's Sandwich Bread Mode.)
- Golden Toast — warms the slice at high temperature, then browns it golden at the end. For thicker breads like bagels and sourdough. (Replaces Artisan Bread Mode.)
- Pizza — higher top heat at a constant temperature with extra browning at the end, for breads with toppings.
- Croissant — constant temperature with no browning, for pastries.
- Oven — a steam-free mode at 350°F, 400°F or 450°F for gratins, cookies and frozen food.
- Salamander Grill — an intense top-down blast of heat modelled on the overhead broilers used in restaurant kitchens, for finishing and browning. No water required.
Steam and heat control
Steam cooking starts around 140°F to restore the interior, rising to roughly 320°F as the surface turns golden and about 428°F once toasting begins. Salamander Grill Mode concentrates heat from the top coils and can be used on its own or at the end of a cook to dial in browning.
